Here we describe which projects we are currently involved in.
AIC Kijabe Hospital
Dani works and teaches at AIC Kijabe Hospital. He is currently the only pulmonologist within a radius of hundreds of kilometers (excluding Nairobi). He contributes his knowledge and skills primarily in the intensive care unit and is a leader in its expansion and development. Furthermore, he treats patients in the newly established lung outpatient clinic.
Regional projects
Dani supports a training project for emergency physicians and the establishment of an intensive care unit in one of Kenya's neighboring countries. Furthermore, he is involved in providing advice on the establishment of a hospital in Mozambique.
School fees and lunch money for schoolchildren
Many parents or guardians (many children in the neighborhood are orphans) find it difficult to raise the necessary school fees and lunch money for school. We work closely with a Kenyan friend to enable schoolchildren to attend school and have a meal at school, which is often their only meal of the day.
Kindergarten
We are planning to support two Kenyan friends in setting up a much-needed kindergarten in our neighborhood. The official planning steps required by the government must be taken into account, as well as the financial aspects and social needs of the neighborhood.
Environmental protection
We are trying to improve the waste management in Kijabe. We initiated the regular collection of garbage from the streets. Furthermore, we are in the process of launching a project with schools so that the proper handling of waste can be taught in schools.
Microfinance projects
Many people are motivated to work, but they either lack training, the necessary tools/means of transport, or the necessary start-up capital. We help some of these people by financing them with a micro-loan and create a financial plan with them. This will (hopefully) allow them to provide for themselves and their families financially in the long term.
Moffat Bibel College
Since Dani enjoys studying the Bible and wants young people to get to know and experience God through the Bible, we are very pleased that he sometimes has the opportunity to share God's word with the students of the local Bible college. More information about the Bible college can be found HERE.
